Are you landing in São Miguel or Terceira?you see the azorean islands are relatively small, not big, but very very cozy!!If you land in Sao Miguel, the capital, you can rent a taxi/cab and just go to the center of the town capital: Ponta Delgada and stay there and see things for a while. Then i advice t go back on a taxi again,it is not expensive and the airport is a bit far from the town t go walking.Have a good time!
I will try and help you. I can't give you the exact cost without knowing your exact travel dates. But check the international site of SATA here http://www.sata.pt/EUA/en/Home/1 also tap portugal here http://www.flytap.com/Portugal/en/Homepage/ They both fly to Ponta Delgada from Lisboa. You also can check this search engine website for flights also http://www.mobissimo.com/search_airfare.php
Have fun in the Azores!!!!!
Canada Post?
How many boxes do you have? And how big?
Perhaps a freight forwarding firm can help with the really large items...
Funny question. Selling is out of question, but believe me that if you would be a Bill Gates, you could rent the island, only for yourself (and your evil vilain staff), for 500 billion euros, for a 10 year contract. Then you could build a super evil structure, and try to destroy something. lol
I lived there for four years when I was middle-school-aged(on Terceira). It's really nice there! If you can find out some of the festival times of year you should go see some street bullfights. I guess it depends what island you're going to be visiting. I visited several of the islands while I lived there. Email with further details and I'll try to help out some more. I'd love to go back there. Lucky!

The Azores are a group of 9 islands located in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean. They were discovered in the 15th century by portuguese navigators, and since then have been part of Portugal. There were no natives on the islands, which were colonized by people from mainland Portugal, but also from other European Countries, Africa and India, since the islands were a very important outpost on the commercial trade routes of the 16th and 17th centuries. When the Spanish took control of Portugal in 1580, the azorean island of Terceira was able to maintain an active resistance for 2 years: during that period, all that remained of Portugal was Terceira Island. In 1640 Portugal reclaimed its independence from Spain, including the Azores and Madeira islands.
It i spossible when you find one of your known source.

Have a great time!!!
It takes a while. My friend sent me a postcard and it took two weeks to get here to the United States....so a package would probably take a lot longer, possibly a month..
The Azores Islands are a part of Portugal. The name means blue, for the beautiful blue of the sky and the ocean surrounding them. (although some say the name comes from the Portuguese for 'hawks' which is acores.)
The US Air Force has a base, Lajes Field, on Terceira, which I had the pleasure of living on for 2 years when I was a teenager (my dad was stationed there). GREAT experience.
There are 9 islands. They are approximately 1500km from Lisbon and 3900 km from east coast of USA.

All of those islands formed above hot spots in the oceans crusts and as magma leaked out it built up until the islands form.
The origin of the name Azores was derived from the archaic Portuguese word azures the plural of the word blue. Some say that it was named after the goshawk bird (Açor in Portuguese). However, since such bird never existed in the Azores, most historians have concluded that this the least probable explanation.
The 9 islands of the Azores archipelago are divided into three groups:
The Eastern Group of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria
The Central Group of Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico and Faial
The Western Group of Flores and Corvo.
T
he Azores, an outline of garden-like islands on the horizons of the Atlantic ocean. Peace and quiet, flowers in the fields, in the villages, in the houses. The blue and green of dreamy lagoons. A pace of life in which there is time to stop and appreciate living. Art treasures that recall pages of a centuries-long history. Nature in its original splendor. A meeting with the past involved in everyday life. An invitation to discover and experience a different world, repeated on each of the nine islands of the Azores.
-The international air links of the Azores operate through the airports on São Miguel (flights from Mainland Portugal, the United States, Canada and Madeira), Terceira (Mainland Portugal, the United States and Canada), Faial (Mainland Portugal)and Pico (Mainland Portugal).
-A regional airline SATA Air Azores connects all the islands, and small and medium size suttle boats (lanchas) from Transmaçor link up the various islands of the central group only.
-It is possible to hire self drive cars in the main islands. Bus and taxi services are also available
Prices dffer for everything so you will just have to find out whern you arrive.
Everything there is resonalbley cheap though
Good Luck!
We have the African Vulture that appears in Texas in numbers from time to time, but it appears to make a flight from Africa to South America... I'll have to research that someday.
This is about all I can find on it:

Some birds do migrate across the Atlantic, but I could not find any reference to the Azores.
Madeira is Portuguese although it is located in the Atlantic, off the coast of North Africa.
It has a sub-tropical climate with all the year round growth of flowers, fruit and vegetables. It is a beautiful place with a mountainous interior. There are no beaches but plenty of places to swim and all hotels have a swimming pool. There is little or no industry except wine making and banana exporting. Funchal, the capital of Madeira has a very high standard of hotels and is also virtually crime free.
If you were considering going in the U.K. winter, then Madeira would be the first option as the Azores tends to be much colder as they are further north.
The Azores are a collection of volcanic islands and do not have the facilities of Madeira but in summer they are great.
I took my family to Terceira two years ago and we all loved it. The Hotel Varandas do Atlantinco is right on the beach in Praia da Vittoria which is not as busy as Lajes (the capital of the island). A little up the road from the beach in Praia da Vitoria is Pensao Trezinha. There are many cafes and plenty restaurants which serve great food. We took trips to the furnas and to the inside of the volcanic crater. The beach at fontinhas is lovely. many rock pools which make swimming a pleasure. On the other side of Lajes is Monte do Brazil with lovely views. We were lucky to have been there during the festas do Espirito Santo which were very interesting. Processions down the streets with bands playing. The island is beautiful with hydrangeas growing all over and during the processions they spread the petals on the road. the food is great too. Must try alcatra which is like a roast and massa sovada a sweet bread.
We flew from heathrow to Lisbon and then to Terceira (American air base) on Air Portugal.
We really had a great time. My children would love to go back.
Your fuel capacity is much too small - calculate your daily
distance with the total distance across the Atlantic and add
at least 25% fuel needed.
You also need the equipment/knowledge for astronomical
navigation - you cannot trust GPS as your only mean of
navigation.
